Kudumi Cultural Society hosted BANDANA-2010 on 8-9th November 2010,a two day conference on recent trends and traditions in Kudmali culture and language. The conference was broadly based on the challenges and opportunities of this language in modern era. Jharkhand Ratna Shyam Sunder Mahto, Chakradharpur was the chief guest of this function. He spoke on relation between ancient, and modern Kudmali Culture. Dr. Adikanda Mohanta, the Chief Editor of magazine “BANDANA” discussed on importance of modern languages, and how can we deal with various challenges to develop this culture. Dr. Bhagbat Lenka was chief speaker, and his comparison of this culture with another was really acceptable. Sankarlal Mahto, Ganeswar Mahto, Om Prakash Mahto from Chakradharpur stressed on Kudmali Chari. The annual magazine “BANDANA” was inaugurated in this conference. Chanchore (dance of dhinguans (singers and dancers with the madal baja(tune)) and Garu Khela (bullock dance with Madal tune ) are the traditions most popular in this culture on last BANDANA (budhi BANDANA). KCS has been organizing bullock dance competition among the enthusiastic farmers. Last year Lembu Munda bagged the first, and Shusil Mohanta second in this mega event for better performance of their
bullocks. Prize distribution was held in this conference. KCS distributed the cash award among the social workers and volunteers.
